Hello Rams Families,

We hope you are enjoying a holiday season filled with peace and happiness. As we approach the opening of Registration on January 2, 2026, I wanted to share a few important updates about the upcoming season.

We are excited to announce that the U11-U15 Coed age divisions in the GELC will now be tiered at the A/B/C levels of play. All registered players will be required to attend our tiering evaluations before being placed on a team for the 2026 season. Lacrosse, like many sports, includes a wide range of skill levels, and we believe strongly in creating an environment where every athlete can grow, feel challenged, and enjoy the game. Tiering helps ensure players are placed with teammates of similar skill sets and compete against teams that match their level of play with the ultimate goal of supporting development, confidence, and long-term love of the sport.

You will also notice during registration that fees have increased for the upcoming season. This was not a decision your St. Albert Rams Board of Directors made lightly. We remain deeply committed to keeping lacrosse affordable and accessible for families in our community, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Unfortunately, this increase is largely the result of national fee changes announced by Lacrosse Canada for the 2026 season—costs that are outside the control of local associations and apply to all players, coaches, and executive members across the country. In addition, like many minor sports organizations, we are experiencing rising expenses in several areas, including floor time rentals, equipment replacement, insurance, and referee/game fees.

In fact, most of our registration fees do not fully cover the true cost of a season for each player. To bridge this gap, we will be supplementing with additional fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Please know that we are doing everything we can to limit fee increases while continuing to provide meaningful, high-quality programming. Our goal is always to deliver value, opportunity, and a positive experience for every athlete who wears the St. Albert Rams jersey.

Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible support our club has received over the past several seasons. From dedicated families and hardworking athletes to passionate coaches and an exceptionally committed Board of Directors—our growth has been a true source of pride. It is an exciting time to be a St. Albert Ram!

We look forward to watching our athletes continue to develop their skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence, both on and off the floor, in the season ahead.
