Kelsey Sheldon Goldade passed away on February 13, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted father, son, brother, friend, coach, mentor, and community leader whose impact reached far beyond the playing field.
Born on July 15, 1978, in Leader, Saskatchewan, Kelsey was the fourth child of Judy Hittel Garton and Kenneth Goldade. From an early age, he displayed a natural talent and passion for sports, excelling in hockey, baseball, golf, water sports, and any activity that challenged his competitive spirit. He carried that passion throughout his life, embracing an active lifestyle and inspiring those around him to do the same.
A graduate of the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Management in Marketing, Kelsey built a successful career in marketing and account management while also pursuing entrepreneurship as a Subway franchise owner. Yet his greatest pride and purpose were found in being a father to his beloved children, Gia and Nixon. He was deeply committed to supporting them in every aspect of life, creating lasting memories through sports, travel, and everyday moments together.
Kelsey was known for his kindness, loyalty, and ability to connect with people. He was loved by family, friends, coworkers, and teammates alike, and his presence brought energy, encouragement, and laughter wherever he went.
Within the St. Albert Rams Lacrosse Club, Kelsey was a devoted coach for three seasons, proudly guiding and supporting his son Nixon and the entire team. His time with the Rams culminated in an unforgettable 2025 season, when the U11 group captured both the Okotoks Classic Championship and the GELC League Championship. While the victories were memorable, those who played for Kelsey will remember him most for the confidence he instilled, the encouragement he offered, and the genuine care he showed every athlete.
Beyond lacrosse, Kelsey was also a deeply respected hockey coach whose influence reached far across our community. He touched the lives of countless young athletes in both sports, offering not only skill development but mentorship, leadership, and unwavering support. He believed in helping young people grow both on and off the field, and his impact will continue to be felt for years to come.
Kelsey’s leadership, dedication, and positive spirit will be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on through his children, the athletes he inspired, the friendships he cherished, and the community he helped strengthen.
